But despite its complexity, there are simple lifestyle habits you can focus on for a strong immune system. While you cannot fix your immune system overnight, there are various things we can do to improve it. Make sure you are incorporating these 3 ways in your lifestyle for a strong immune system. 

  • Nutritious Food and Hydration 

A healthy and nutritious diet is key to a strong immune system. The nutrients you get from foods especially fruits, vegetables, spices, and herbs are vital for your immune system to keep functioning properly. Many plant-based foods also possess antimicrobial and antiviral properties. 

Additionally, iron, zinc, copper, folate, selenium, vitamin A, C, E, B6, and B12 are essential for your immune system. Each one of them plays a fundamental role in boosting your immune.  Try to include more meat, seafood, citrus foods, kiwis, soups, salads, smoothies, carrots, broccoli, strawberries, red bell pepper, nuts, and spinach in your everyday meals. 

Along with nutritious food, hydrating with fluids like water, juices is necessary. Limit consumption of sugary drinks, and alcohol. Dehydration can also lead to adversely affect your mood, focus, heart, and kidney functions. 

  • Physical Activity 

Regular exercising can lower the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, heart diseases, and also bacterial infections. Adults should at least get 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercises – walking, cycling, jogging, or 75 minutes of high-intensity exercises like running. You should do strength training at least twice a week this will stimulate your bones and improve metabolism. 

  • Restorative Sleep 

While you sleep, your body heals and regenerates, which makes getting adequate sleep a critical step for boosting the immune system. Your body regulates key immune cells whilst you are sleeping. When you don’t get adequate sleep, your immune system is less likely to do all this thing optimally. This will make you more vulnerable to harmful pathogens and microorganisms. All adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep every day for better health. 

These are 3 simple ways to boost your immune system. Incorporate them into your lifestyle and observe the results yourself. You can further improve your immunity system by keeping up to date with your vaccines and achieving mental balance.
