Denmark’s most innovative festivals that offer a wide selection of Danish and international music artists. Whether it’s pop, rock or everything in between, spectators will surely find something that they will love as the festival attracts a number of talented groups and individuals.
Last year, the three-day music festival had attracted a number of talented and influential artists in music such as Cigarettes After Sex, Aurora, A Perfect Circle, Sleaford Mods, to participate and was considered a great success. However, it was artists like Queens of The Stone Age, The National, Father John Misty, and Bjork, who became the headliners.
This year, the festival is scheduled to take place from June 6th to June 8th and will feature some of the most talented and popular artists in the music industry like Major Lazer, an American EDM group that popularized the songs “Get Free”, “Watch Out for This”, “Cold Water”, “Light It Up”, and “Lean On.” The song “Lean On”, which is considered to be one of the biggest hits of the decade, is probably the group’s best and most popular song. While Northside is doing preparations for the upcoming festival, the group has a couple of tours lined up all across the United States. In last year’s festival, Diplo performed a mind-blowing show. As such, spectators are excited to see a spectacular show as he is joined by his teammates in Major Lazer.
Another artist to look out for in this year’s NorthSide festival is Bon Iver, an American Indie folk band. Bon Iver is well-known for the songs “Skinny Love”, Blood Bank”, and “For Emma.” Like Major Lazer, Bon Iver also has some tours lined up before the big event in June. While most of their tour is focused in the United States, they are also scheduled to perform in London and Luxembourg just before the festival in June. Throughout their eleven years in the music industry, the group has won two Grammys and was able to produce three studio albums. With that said, I’m curious to see how they will wow spectators this coming June.
With the addition of Birmingham’s alternative hip-hop music group The Streets, the headliners for this year’s festival are now revealed. Interestingly enough, this won’t be the first time that the group will be headlining the festival as they have participated in the 2011 NorthSide festival. The Streets is famous for the songs “Fit But You Know It”, “Dry Your Eyes”, “When You Wasn’t Famous” and “Let’s Push Things Forward.” The English hip-hop group announced their retirement back in 2011 and made a successful comeback seven years later. Despite the long hiatus, I’m pretty sure that we can expect more from one of England’s best rapper in this year’s NorthSide Festival.
The complete lineup for this year has not yet been announced, but it has already been publicized that a couple of artists will be joining the event. Aside from Major Lazer, Bon Iver and The Streets, other artists that have been announced to join in the festival are Alice in Chains, Cautious Clay, First Aid Kit, Foals, Georgia, Kaytranada, Khalid, Kurt Vile & the Violators, L.O.C., Lydmor, Migos, New Order, Peter Sommer & Tiggerne, Suspekt, Tame Impala, The Minds of 99, and Tove Lo.
While a complete lineup and schedule are yet to be announced, a partial schedule is already publicized through NorthSide’s official website.
On June 6 – Day 1 – a back-to-back performance will be performed by Alice in Chains, Cautious Clay, Foals, Kaytranada, Khalid, Tame Impala, The Streets, and Tove Lo is listed to do a back-to-back performance.
The next day, June 7 – Day 2 – Gnags, Jada, L.O.C., Lydmor, Major Lazer, Migos, and New Order are expected to amaze the crowd with their incredible music.

The NorthSide Festival has also showcased some of the biggest names in the industry. Some of them were Duran Duran (2016), Ellie Goulding (2013), Fun. (2013), Imagine Dragons (2013), Incubus (2015), Radiohead (2017), Snow Patrol (2012), and Suspekt (2017). With such great artists participating in the previous years and with such promising lineup for this year, I bet that people are really going to enjoy the whole three-day event.
Interestingly, Northside also prides itself with its green initiative and on winning the “A Greener Festival Award” for its tireless commitment to sustainability, which is the reason why it stands out from other European festivals. So, come on to Aarhus and experience non-stop music in Denmark’s environmental-friendly music festival.
